Psychotherapy in English in São Paulo, Brazil.
Living in a foreign country sometimes can make us feel homesick, feeling alone, isolated, misunderstood, among other issues.
When we change countries, we want to start a new life and leave some problems behind. But these problems often insist on following us. Eventually we realize that they will follow us wherever we go.
We can also ask ourselves: Am I having trouble to adapt to this culture? Have I moved away from my homeland to find something better or just to escape from something difficult? Was I looking for some kind of “promised land”?
When having problems or existential crises in a foreign country, it may simply be more comfortable talking about and managing them using one’s mother tongue.
